FAQs
Comprehensive Answers
How long does each therapy session take?
Each session will last between 50 and 60 minutes. I will always aim to end the session at an appropriate time, so if we are discussing something that is important to you, we may extend to 70 minutes.
An exception to this is the Stop Smoking session, which is a one off session of 2 hours.
How much does it cost?
Each session costs £60. I offer reduced rates for students, retired, unemployed and veterans.
The Stop Smoking session is £150.
All sessions must be paid in advance. This secures your booking.
What if I need to cancel a session?
If you need to cancel a session, please give at least 24 hours notice. Sessions cancelled with more than 24 hours notice and which have already been paid, you will be offered a refund or to reschedule at no cost.
If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice and the session has already been paid, this will not be refundable but I will happily reschedule the session for a more convenient time at no additional cost.

If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice and your session has not yet been paid, you will be invoiced for the cost of the session and you will be required to pay the balance before booking further sessions. However, if the cancellation was made due to an emergency, do contact me.
No shows will not be refunded.
What happens when I book with you?
When you book with me, we will begin with an initial consultation. This will allow us to get to know one another a little better, and give you the opportunity to ask any questions. This initial consultation is free, and there is no obligation to continue to have sessions.
At the end of the consultation, I will give you a relaxation recording MP3 to listen to before you go to sleep. This will help with your therapy process.
From your first session onwards after the consultation, you can expect approximately half of the session to comprise of talking therapy, and the remaining time to be spent in trance.
Speaking of ‘trance’, you won’t make me cluck like a chicken, will you?
No no, nothing of the sort. Trance is actually a very natural state that we go into every day - every time we daydream. Whilst our brains are ‘idling’ when we daydream, concentrate, go on auto-pilot etc, our brains are very active, looking for solutions to problems we aren’t even consciously thinking about, and receptive to suggestions. This is what makes hypnotherapy so effective, as the suggestions are formed from our speaking and what you want to achieve.
In trance, you are in control the entire time and I can’t make you do or believe anything that you don’t want. You can even bring yourself out of trance whenever you like, but most people find it a beautifully relaxing state.
How many sessions will I need?
No more and no less than what you find useful. You may find that two or three sessions is enough, or you may find you benefit still coming for your ninth or tenth - you are in charge of the process and I am happy to continue seeing you for as long as it feels helpful to you.
Some treatments, such as for stopping smoking, are a single 2 hour session, but I would be happy to see you for follow up sessions if you wish to work on something such as stress or anxiety.
